KatadataOTO – When introducing a vehicle, a company cannot simply bring a car from abroad to Indonesia. Various adjustments must be made so that the market can receive the model well.

One of these was done by Jaecoo on its newest model, the J5 EV. Several features are claimed to have been adjusted to suit customer needs.

“Adjustments were made to comfort features, such as adding an AC in the second row. We did this because the temperature in Indonesia is indeed hotter,” said Ryan Ferdiean Tirto, Head of Product at Jaecoo Indonesia.

As for performance, including the battery and drive system, he confirmed it is still the same as the overseas version. Thus, the Domestic Component Level or TKDN is claimed to remain high.

“The TKDN is already above 40 percent and it is still produced at the Handal Indonesia Motor factory,” he later added.

He also revealed that this number will continue to be increased in the future so that the TKDN can become even larger.

“In the future, there will be components that can be localized, such as the battery and tires,” he later added.

It should be noted that the Jaecoo J5 EV has been introduced in Indonesia and can already be ordered for a price of Rp 350 million to Rp 450 million. The price tag has successfully attracted customer interest, resulting in over 200 bookings.

Various attractions have been embedded in the car, especially in terms of its modern appearance thanks to the use of a closed grille on the front. The vehicle is also equipped with headlamps with DRLs, making it even more pleasing to the eye.

In terms of performance, the Jaecoo J5 EV uses a 60.9 kWh capacity battery, enough to travel a distance of 470 km on a full charge. This power is then used to operate an electric motor that can release 155 kW of power, equivalent to 207 hp, with a peak torque of 288 Nm.

The performance is capable of accelerating the car from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 7.3 seconds. There are various features in the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) embedded, complete with six airbags.
