KatadataOTO – Jaecoo J5 EV made its global debut at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025. Although still a prototype, its presence is believed to be an answer to the high public demand for electric vehicles in the country.
Moreover, electric cars have received very strong support from the government, so the market continues to grow.
“We are aware that Indonesia plays a very important role in the company's global strategy. Jaecoo is also very enthusiastic about contributing to supporting the country's transition towards smarter mobility,” said Max Zhou, Country Director of Jaecoo Indonesia.
When the veil was lifted, the Jaecoo J5 EV appeared with a sporty and tough-looking design. Its headlamps are boxy and it is equipped with LED DRLs.
The color black is very dominant in the interior. There is also a fairly large display that is believed to be able to show various important vehicle features.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer is still keeping the full specifications of the Jaecoo J5 EV a secret. They only gave the media a chance to see the vehicle up close.
“However, we can confirm that we will launch the Jaecoo J5 EV this year. It's just that the exact time has not yet been announced,” said Ryan Ferdiean Tirto, Head of Product for Jaecoo Indonesia, during the introduction.
Not only that, he also revealed that the car will be produced directly in the country and will utilize the production facilities of Handal Indonesia Motor. Thus, the price will be more competitive.
“But as for how much Local Component Level (TKDN) will be in the Jaecoo J5 EV, we cannot say yet. Because we are indeed still developing it,” he then said.
Interestingly, Ryan Ferdiean Tirto revealed that the Jaecoo J5 EV can already be ordered by the public. The fee is not too large, only around IDR 5 million.
“It can already be ordered with a booking fee of IDR 5 million to IDR 10 million. But as mentioned earlier, the arrival of the unit cannot be announced yet,” he concluded.
