Jaecoo J5 EV Officially Assembled at Inchcape's Wanaherang Factory

KatadataOTO – The Jaecoo J5 EV electric Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) is officially assembled at the Inchcape Wanaherang facility. 

Recently, a photo circulated showing the Jaecoo J5 EV with a number of factory workers in Wanaherang.

It should be noted that previously, Jaecoo only relied on the PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) factory to assemble the J5 EV, along with other Chery Group product lines.

“Chery Indonesia has established a partnership with Inchcape Indonesia. Now the Jaecoo J5 is assembled in two factories,” said Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia in a statement received by KatadataOTO, Thursday (22/01).

However, Chery was reluctant to disclose how long the partnership with Inchcape Indonesia will last.

Speaking of the Jaecoo J5 EV, the number of orders has exploded. As of December 2025, the number is claimed to have reached 10,000 Vehicle Order Letters (SPK).

Chery was reluctant to explain in detail the total units that have been delivered or the retail sales (distribution from dealers to consumers) of the J5 EV.

However, looking at Gaikindo data, from January to November 2025, the wholesales (distribution from factory to dealer) of the Jaecoo J5 EV were 1,663 units.

With total orders reaching 10,000 units, Jaecoo needs to catch up on production time so that consumers do not have to wait too long for their orders.

Jaecoo is committed to fulfilling the demand for the J5 EV for 10,000 consumers by February 2026.

For your information, the Jaecoo J5 EV is sold at a price of Rp 249.9 million to Rp 299.9 million on the road in Jakarta.

That price tag makes it competitive in the 5-seater SUV segment and is one of the main attractions for consumers who want to use an electric car.

The Jaecoo J5 EV is equipped with an electric motor with a power of 155 kW (207.8 hp) and a peak torque of 288 Nm.

The Jaecoo J5 EV's battery has a capacity of 60.9 kWh, enabling the car to travel up to 461 kilometers (NEDC) on a single full charge.

Owners also don't need to worry about charging issues, as a 130 kW fast charging feature is available. Charging from 30 percent to 80 percent only takes at least 28 minutes.
