Jaecoo officially announced the price of their newest SUV, the J8, concurrently with the global debut of the J8 PHEV in Indonesia.
KatadataOTO – The prices for the Jaecoo J8 and J8 PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) have been officially revealed for Indonesian consumers.
It should be noted that the Jaecoo J8 was previously introduced to consumers at the IIMS (Indonesia International Motor Show) 2025 event.
“The Jaecoo J8 offers capable off-road performance with advanced technology, classic off-roading with a better safety system,” said Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia in Jakarta, on Monday (21/07).
He further emphasized that the Jaecoo J8 is a vehicle that has been adapted to the needs of domestic consumers, for both in-city, out-of-town, or off-road use.
The conventional engine Jaecoo J8 is offered with a price tag of IDR 689.9 million. Meanwhile, the Jaecoo J8 PHEV has an introductory price of IDR 850 million.
In the future, the Jaecoo J8 will be locally assembled at the facility owned by PT HIM (Handal Indonesia Motor).
The Jaecoo J8 has dimensions of L x W x H at 4,820 mm x 1,930 mm x 1,710 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,820 mm.
With a 6-seater configuration, the middle row of the Jaecoo J8 uses captain seats.
This model is equipped with a 2,000 cc turbocharged engine which is claimed to produce 245 hp and a peak torque of 285 Nm.
However, there is no detailed information yet regarding the technical specifications of the Jaecoo J8 PHEV. According to the manufacturer, this model has features similar to its gasoline engine version.
This also includes Jaecoo's AWD (All Wheel Drive) technology, namely ARDIS (All-Road Drive Intelligent System).
“We use Dynamic Torque Vectoring 4WD like on the Range Rover; there is intelligent control that sends specific torque to certain tires to handle various road conditions,” said Steve Eum, Vice President and General Manager of Chery Design China/Europe R&D on the same occasion.
The embedded technology is heavily adopted from Range Rover and offered at a competitive price. Therefore, it is expected to be a unique attraction for the Indonesian public.
These two new models from Jaecoo can be seen in person at the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025 automotive event, starting this coming July 23.
