KatadataOTO – The four-wheeled vehicle market is facing many obstacles in 2025. Such as the decline in public purchasing power.

However, JBA Indonesia admits to have set a target for this year. They are determined to sell tens of thousands of used car units.

"This year we are targeting 55 thousand units, while in 2024 it was below that," said Denny Gunawan, Chief Operatiing Officer of JBA Indonesia to reporters in South Jakarta, Tuesday (15/04).

According to Dedy, this achievement is very possible. Because there are a number of supporting factors.

JBA Indonesia recorded that throughout the first quarter of 2025, used car sales grew by 13 percent compared to the same period last year.

Furthermore, the auction house managed to achieve more than 27 percent of their target from January to March 2025.

"We are optimistic that in 2025 the used car market will remain strong," Dedy said.

Dedy also explained that Java Island is still the largest contributor, accounting for up to 59 percent of total used car sales.

This amount is claimed to be an increase, namely 55 percent when compared to last year's achievement.

He detailed that Jakarta could contribute 36 percent for second-hand four-wheeled vehicles.

Meanwhile, the second-largest contribution comes from Sumatra Island, reaching 29 percent. Whereas Kalimantan and Sulawesi as well as the eastern Indonesia region remained at eight percent.

"It's just that right now we can't dare to set a target to increase by 10 percent, 15 percent, or 20 percent seeing the current conditions," he continued.

On the other hand, used car sales throughout 2024 reached 1.8 million units. JBA is very hopeful that this achievement can be repeated.

"It will definitely be over one million units, but whether it will exceed last year or not, there isn't any institution that dares to issue a statement yet," Dedy explained.

Expanding Business to the Electronic Auction Segment

It should be noted, JBA Indonesia intends to expand their business. One of them is by creating electronic auctions.

Various electronic products will be presented to be an option for consumers. Thus being able to open the market as widely as possible for unit consignments from both companies and individuals.

"This achievement is a trigger for us to continue to expand the scope of auction objects, including by entering new markets such as electronic auctions," said Kazuhiro Shioyama, Chief Executive Officer of JBA Indonesia.
