KatadataOTO – PT Jetour Motor Indonesia introduced an electric car, the X50e, at the IIMS 2025 event. Previously, the Chinese manufacturer focused on selling gasoline-powered SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles).

Upon further investigation, there is no official information regarding the Jetour X50e electric car. However, its design is similar to another Chinese product, the Chery Tiggo 5X.

The design is identical at a glance, especially in the C-pillar area. This is highly likely, considering Jetour is one of Chery's sub-brands.

There is a chance that the X50e does use that model as its base. According to Jetour, this is done to implement different strategies in each country.

“In Indonesia, one of the future trends is the EV. That's why we are also introducing an EV model (at IIMS 2025),” said Jackie Yang, President Director of PT Jetour Motor Indonesia at JIExpo Kemayoran some time ago.

Furthermore, according to Jackie, the electric car model with great potential to be in demand in Indonesia is the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle). However, it does not rule out the possibility of Jetour bringing in an EV hatchback in the future.

He also emphasized that the need for electric cars is seen as increasing over time. This is the basis for Jetour's readiness to bring EVs to Indonesian consumers.

“So this year we will introduce two (electric car) models to the Indonesian market. We are seeing an increasing trend and demand for EVs,” said Jackie.

For your information, the Chery Tiggo Cross, which has an identical design to the X50e, was just officially launched at IIMS 2025.

Unlike the Jetour X50e, the Tiggo Cross is a gasoline-powered car with a 1,500 cc engine capacity.

The compact SUV is offered with a price tag in the IDR 200 millions. The lowest type, the Cross Comfort, is IDR 239.5 million, while the Premium is IDR 269.5 million on the road in Jakarta.

It is possible that the Jetour X50e will be the electric-powered version of the Tiggo Cross. The model also seems set to make its global debut in Indonesia.

The Jetour X50e has never been exhibited in any other country. Indonesia is the first country where the X50e has made its debut.
