KatadataOTO – Competition among Chinese manufacturers in the EV (Electric Vehicle) segment is getting fiercer. Several brands are offering affordable electric cars in small sizes.

Jetour, which currently offers conventional cars in Indonesia, seems unwilling to be left behind. The brand is reportedly preparing a new surprise for consumers at the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025 event.

Although more focused on SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles), Jetour does not deny the possibility of a special product in the form of a small electric car at GIIAS 2025.

“We’ll see at GIIAS 2025,” said Moch. Ranggy Radiansyah, Marketing Director of Jetour Motor Indonesia, when met in West Jakarta, Tuesday (15/07).

Upon closer inspection, Jetour has one small electric car model, the Ice Cream EV, which is already sold in the Philippines.

When confirmed, Ranggy revealed that the product in question is not the Ice Cream EV. However, it is still a small-sized electric car and different from Jetour's other vehicle lineup in the country.

“(The product is) to fill the city BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) segment. Just an introduction (at GIIAS 2025),” Ranggy affirmed.

Besides the small electric car, Jetour is believed to be introducing several other new vehicle lines, both ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and electric cars.

One model with a high chance of being introduced is the X50e EV. The electric car was previously introduced to the public at the IIMS (Indonesia International Motor Show) 2025 event.

In terms of design, the Jetour X50e EV still shares the identity of other products like the Dashing. However, its full technical specifications are still unknown as it has not been launched in other countries.

The Jetour X50e EV was still a prototype, or concept car, when it was introduced at the IIMS 2025 exhibition. The final version is likely to debut at GIIAS 2025.

There is a possibility that the Jetour X50e EV uses a Chery product as its base. Considering the brand is part of the Chery Group.

Several similarities are visible between the X50e EV and one of Chery's products, the Tiggo Cross, especially in the C-pillar area.
