KatadataOTO – Jaecoo continues to entice consumers in Indonesia. They are not just showcasing hybrid cars in the country.

However, the brand from China has also shown the electric car Jaecoo J5 EV for some time now.

It is claimed that many are waiting for when the Electric Vehicle (EV) will be officially sold in the country.

“Yesterday when we brought it to IIMS 2025, the (public) enthusiasm was quite good. So, many people were asking when it will launch,” said Ryan Ferdiean Tirto, Head of Product for Jaecoo Indonesia in BSD, Tangerang some time ago.

Ryan explained that until now, Jaecoo is still making preparations to sell their electric car.

So that when it is officially sold, the Jaecoo J5 EV can be relied upon by consumers for various activities. Both for daily use or for out-of-town trips.

“Just wait, in the near future we will definitely introduce it (Jaecoo J5 EV) as well,” said Ryan.

However, Ryan was still hesitant to reveal more about the fate of the Jaecoo J5 EV. Including the launch time in the country.

“There will be a time when we will announce when it can be opened (the launch time of Jaecoo J5 EV), this year,” Ryan affirmed.

For your information, Jaecoo previously admitted to be conducting market testing for the J5 EV. This is done to understand the tastes and desired prices of potential buyers.

“From yesterday until now, we have been conducting research. Which market segment to enter and which areas we will target,” said Mohamad Ilham Pratama, Head of Marketing for Jaecoo Indonesia on a separate occasion.

On the other hand, the Jaecoo J5 EV electric car is rumored to be produced locally in the country. It will be assembled at PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM).

It should be noted that the Jaecoo J5 EV relies on front-wheel drive and is equipped with a 60.9 kWh capacity battery.

This configuration is claimed to allow the J5 EV to produce 208 hp and a peak torque of 288 Nm.
