KatadataOTO – News of the arrival of Leapmotor, a Chinese electric car brand under the Stellantis umbrella, began to circulate late last year, specifically during the announcement of the formation of the Stellantis Brand House in Indonesia.

The arrival of Leapmotor will add another electric car option for domestic consumers with attractive specifications. The candidate is the Leapmotor C10.

The model has a great chance of becoming a new rival to the Aion V, with dimensions that are not much different.

Not only that, representatives from Citroen and Jeep, part of the Stellantis Group, have also been seen wearing new uniforms with an added Leapmotor emblem.

When asked about the certainty of Leapmotor's presence in the country, the Indomobil Group, which will be the distributor, confirmed that the new brand will be introduced in the near future.

“One of the soonest, hopefully, can be introduced (Leapmotor), but it cannot be announced yet. We are waiting for the official launch time,” said Tan Kim Piauw, CEO of PT Indomobil National Distributor in Jakarta, on Monday (17/03).

Throughout 2025, a total of three brands from Stellantis will be marketed domestically: Citroen, Jeep, and Leapmotor.

There are still a number of other automotive exhibitions running until the end of the year, which could be the right moment for Stellantis to announce the launch of Leapmotor.

“Hopefully, at the Gaikindo (exhibition), we can do it (launch Leapmotor),” he affirmed.

The GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) event, as the largest automotive exhibition in Indonesia today, will most likely be the venue for Leapmotor's debut here.

However, his party is still reluctant to speak in more detail about which Leapmotor model will be offered to consumers.

The Leapmotor C10 is strongly believed to be their first EV (electric vehicle) model in Indonesia. Especially considering that in November 2023, the product was registered with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property.

“That (the Leapmotor model) will probably be (announced) later. Because we are still looking at the launch time,” said Tan Kim Piauw.

In the Southeast Asian market, Leapmotor already launched in Malaysia in mid-October 2024 with a starting price of around RM 149,000, equivalent to about 547 million rupiah.
