KatadataOTO – PT MAB Distributor Indonesia has officially partnered with PT Mata Cahaya Timur to expand their network to Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua. Thus, it is hoped that customers in the eastern Indonesia region can more easily access the company's services.
Later, PT Mata Cahaya Timur, based in Kendari, will build a dealership with a 3S (Sales, Service, and Spare Parts) concept. They will not only be responsible for vehicle sales activities but also for providing after-sales services and official spare parts.
“The appointment of PT Mata Cahaya Timur reflects our commitment to expanding the national electric vehicle distribution network. We believe that the availability of an integrated and reliable service infrastructure is the main foundation for accelerating sustainable EV adoption,” said Jaka Perwira Rahmansyah, President Director of PT MAB Distributor Indonesia (24/06/2025.
The appointment of PT Mata Cahaya Timur as an MAB distributor in Indonesia is claimed not to have been made lightly. The company claims to have conducted an inspection to ensure the company's readiness.
Moreover, this collaboration will last for quite a long time, reaching two years. The products to be marketed by PT Mata Cahaya Timur include the Electric Heavy Truck 6x4, Electric Heavy Truck 8x4, Electric Double Cabin, and the Electro Electric Motorcycle.
These vehicles were chosen because many business owners have recently been complaining about the high cost of fuel. This situation prompted PT MAB to take the initiative to answer the challenge.
“We see great potential in the region, especially from mining companies, due to the increase in fuel prices. So the solution to overcome this is by using electric vehicles, making transportation costs lighter,” said Kelik Irwantono, CEO of PT Mobil Anak Bangsa.
He also added that in the initial stage, they will make the Sulawesi region the backbone due to its high nickel production. However, the market certainly has the potential to grow further as mining areas in other regions like Kalimantan also continue to develop.
“It is not impossible that other regions will also grow, such as in Kalimantan and its surroundings,” concluded Kelik.
