KatadataOTO – Although it has been introduced since the middle of last year, Lepas admits it has not yet started production of its vehicles in Indonesia. The process is planned to start next month at Handal Indonesia Motor.

This decision was made to ensure that all factory preparations could be completed first. So that the quality of the resulting products can meet the standards.

“Production will start in February and unit deliveries to customers will also be made in the same month. The first production run will be approximately 1,000 units,” said Zheng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia (19/01).

He also added that the first unit they will produce is the Lepas L8. They have already opened orders for this model at the GJAW 2025 event.

“So it is hoped that people can use it for the Lebaran homecoming trip,” he added.

It was previously reported that Lepas has opened sales for the L8 at the GJAW 2025 event. The car is presented as a premium vehicle and is priced at IDR 500 million.

On the exterior, the fascia is designed to give an exotic value. Such as Leopard-Eye Headlights to a semi-concealed Door Handle and full LED Taillights.

Inside the cabin, Lepas owners can get more comfort in the L8. As a daily car, there is a digital instrument panel to display various features, such as entertainment and others.

Then the button layout is made very compact. So Lepas L8 owners can adapt quickly

This car uses the LEX Platform which serves as both the architecture and the ‘brain’ of the vehicle, making it more comfortable and efficient. This is because Lepas claims the car has good NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) quality.

The LEX Platform combines a turbo engine and an electric motor that produces up to 205 kW (274 hp) of power and 365 Nm of torque. Acceleration feels responsive from the initial press of the pedal but remains smooth and measured.

This performance remains efficient as it is equipped with an 18.4 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. Thanks to this, the car can travel about 100 km in electric mode.

When a long journey is needed, the PHEV architecture on this platform provides a total range of up to 1,300 km (WLTC). Its charging is also flexible: 40 kW DC Fast Charging allows charging from 30 percent to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
