KatadataOTO – Mazda CX-6e was officially launched for the global market at the Brussels Motor Show recently.

This is interesting because previously, the model was only marketed in China and was the result of a collaboration with a Chinese brand that also sells vehicles in Indonesia, namely Changan.

It should be noted that in its country of origin, this electric car is sold under the name Mazda EZ-60.

The Mazda CX-6e was first introduced to the public at the Shanghai Motor Show. Changan participated in developing the electrification technology and performance of the model.

“The Mazda CX-6e is scheduled to launch in Europe this summer with plans for an introduction in Australia,” read an official statement from Mazda, quoted on Wednesday (14/01).

In terms of design, the Mazda CX-6e strives to maintain its distinctive design language and grille shape, albeit with a more modern touch in the grille area.

At the front, an LED bar frames the grille and the light area, which has become a new characteristic of Mazda's electric cars.

A similar design language was previously used on the EZ-6 electric sedan or Mazda 6e, the model touted as the successor to the Mazda 6 sedan.

Mazda Indonesia has not yet confirmed the model's arrival in the country, but its presence seems to be getting closer.

The right-hand drive version of the Mazda CX-6e will go on sale in Australia soon. There, the CX-6e is touted as a competitor to the BYD Sealion 7.

Regarding technical specifications, the Mazda CX-6e is equipped with an LFP battery with a capacity of 77.94 kWh. This configuration is claimed to offer a range of 600 kilometers on a single charge.

In China, the Mazda CX-6e is offered in both pure electric and Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) options.

However, for the global market, it is highly likely that Mazda will focus on marketing the electric-powered variant first.

For your information, Mazda already has one electric car model for the Indonesian market, the MX-30. That model has been discontinued in Japan, believed to be due to unsatisfactory sales.
