KatadataOTO – Although it seems they have never announced its progress, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) as the distributor of Mazda in the country affirms that the factory construction is still ongoing. They even claim that some equipment has already started to be shipped.

The hope is that the production facility in West Java can be completed soon and provide a wider choice of cars for the public.

“Currently, the construction of the Mazda factory is still ongoing. Now we are waiting for the machinery and equipment to arrive in the country,” said Ricky Thio, Chief Operating Officer of PT EMI (30/06).

Unfortunately, he declined to provide details regarding the construction of the production facility.

“We are deliberately not making a big deal about the factory's development. Later, when the construction is nearing completion, we will announce everything,” he later said.

In Mazda's financial report as of March 2025, the company had to spend Rp 400 billion to build it. The Mazda CX-30 is touted to be the first car they will produce.

The model has been available in Indonesia since early 2020 with various attractive advantages. One of them is its performance, which is claimed to provide driving pleasure while maintaining fuel efficiency.

This is because the car is equipped with a 2,000 cc Skyactiv-G engine that produces 155 hp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. This power is then channeled through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Currently, the Mazda CX-30 is offered at a price of Rp 585.5 million. That figure is OTR (On The Road) Jakarta. If it is produced directly in Indonesia, it is not impossible that the price will become more affordable.

Moreover, there are several components that can be sourced from local companies, which can invigorate the country's automotive industry.

“Just wait, because we will announce the developments soon,” added Ricky Thio.

It should be noted that currently, Mazda is still one of the Japanese manufacturers that fully imports its entire lineup from abroad. The presence of a factory in the country is expected to reduce vehicle prices without compromising product quality.
