KatadataOTO – Electric cars are quite popular in China. Besides offering compact dimensions, the prices are also quite attractive.

In Indonesia, small electric cars are also gaining more attention. Women dominate the ownership of compact EVs (Electric Vehicles).

An adorable appearance paired with stylish colors is one of the manufacturer's strategies, making it more favored by female consumers.

Geely is one of the manufacturers that has a small-dimensioned electric car. Judging by its shape, it seems suitable to challenge the Wuling BinguoEV and BYD Atto 3 in the country.

During the launch of the Geely EX5 in Indonesia, the manufacturer promised that a new model would be brought in this year.

During KatadataOTO's visit to the Geely Auto headquarters in China, a small electric car named Geome Xingyuan was spotted.

According to circulating rumors, the compact EV will be Geely Indonesia's second product. However, Geely Auto Indonesia explained further.

“We are still conducting market research, because Geely's lineup is already extensive. We don't want to be rash in introducing a product just because of a trend,” said Yusuf Anshori, Brand Director of Geely Auto Indonesia in Huangzhou, China, to KatadataOTO (26/04).

The Geely Geome Xingyuan officially launched in China in October 2024. This electric vehicle immediately achieved fantastic sales.

Built on the GEA (Global Intelligent Electric Architecture) platform, its dimensions are quite compact at 4,135 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height.

Meanwhile, competitors like the Wuling BinguoEV are 3,950 mm long, 1,708 mm wide, and 1,580 mm high. Then the BYD Atto 3 is 4,455 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,615 mm high.

Although compact, it is claimed to have a 375-liter trunk that can be expanded by folding the rear seats, bringing the volume up to 1,320 liters.

For lighting, it certainly relies on LEDs from front to back, adding a modern touch to the exterior.

In its home country, the Geome Xingyuan is marketed with two electric motor options: 58 kW (78 hp) and 85 kW (114 hp). It is then paired with lithium iron phosphate battery pack options of 30.12 kWh and 40.16 kWh made by CATL.

Using the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) method, the Geome Xingyuan can be driven up to a maximum range of 310 km and 410 km. These figures are similar to its competitor, the Wuling BinguoEV.

The Geome Xingyuan is marketed at a starting price of 68,800 yuan or around 161 million Rupiah.
