KatadataOTO – MG 4 EV has been officially introduced for the Chinese market. The model is planned to be officially launched in the Land of the Bamboo Curtain in early September, but pre-orders can be placed starting in August 2025.

The car, which falls into the hatchback segment, is expected to be better received in its home country. This is because MG 4 EV sales have been better in Europe and the UK.

Reporting from CarNewsChina, this car has a length of 4,395 mm, a width of 1,842 mm, a height of 1,551 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. These dimensions are believed to be sufficient to meet the driving needs of the public.

The Chinese manufacturer has made various developments to the exterior, giving it a sleeker look than before. The MG 4 EV comes with a fully enclosed front grille and 17-inch wheels.

Inside the cabin, the car uses a design co-developed with Oppo. The head unit even supports smartphone mirroring, voice commands, and hand gesture operations.

Although the battery capacity was not detailed, the MG 4 EV will use a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Rept Battery Energy.

This power storage source will drive an electric motor with a power of 120 kW or 160 hp. The achievable top speed is 160 km per hour.

Several excellent features embedded in the previous model are expected to be retained. These include the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which covers various features such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and electronic stability control.

In Indonesia, the MG 4 EV is produced locally. This car has also met the 40 percent Local Component Level (TKDN) requirement, making it eligible for a 10 percent Value Added Tax incentive.

Based on Gaikindo data, wholesale sales of the MG 4 EV in May 2025 reached 81 units. This figure is expected to increase in the following months.
