KatadataOTO – The national car project is once again a topic of discussion. The Minister of Industry (Menperin) has provided the latest update on the plan.

According to the aide of President Prabowo Subianto, the production of the national car will be carried out soon.

"We project that the national car will start production in 2027,"  said Agus Gumiwang, Minister of Industry, as quoted by Antara on Thursday (13/11).

Agus said that detailed discussions regarding the national car will involve PT Pindad.

In the meeting, they will discuss the type of vehicle to be produced and the technology to be used.

Additionally, they will discuss the technology applied in the production process, pricing strategy, marketing strategy, and after-sales service.

"The discussion of these many strategic matters is to prepare and realize the President's directive for Indonesia to soon have a national car," Budi continued.

Then, the Ministry of Industry and Pindad are open to the possibility of collaborating with other parties.

So they can jointly develop the national car. President Prabowo Subianto's dream of having a local vehicle can soon be realized.

On the other hand, President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government has taken the initial steps to introduce a national car.

"My fellow countrymen, it is not yet an achievement, but we have already started pioneering it. We will have an Indonesian-made car in the next three years," said Prabowo.

Prabowo confirmed that various preparations have been made, such as providing funds and land.

Therefore, the construction of the national car factory can begin soon. The developers are currently claimed to be working on preparing for it.

Chery and Hyundai Ready to Help

On the other hand, Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has stated that they are ready to contribute to the national car project.

"In essence, we are supportive, of course. As players in the automotive industry, we will just provide support," said Budi Darmawan, Vice Country Director of CSI in Bogor some time ago.

Budi stated that Chery is very ready to collaborate with the government, so that President Prabowo's plan can be realized soon.
