KatadataOTO – Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) has successfully produced nine million car units in Indonesia. This is a positive achievement amidst the current difficult situation.
This achievement has drawn more attention from several parties. Including from the Minister of Industry (Menperin).
“I appreciate Astra Daihatsu Motor for reaching the production of nine million units, counted since its first production in Indonesia in 1978,” said Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Industry, in Sunter, North Jakarta some time ago.
The Minister of Industry admitted to be proud of what the Japanese brand has achieved. Because it can bring a positive impact to the country.
Especially for the national automotive industry sector. Considering Daihatsu is one of the car manufacturers with a production capacity of up to 530 thousand units per year.
According to the Minister of Industry, the number above plays a major role in the domestic four-wheeled vehicle production capacity.
“Based on the 2024 automotive industry performance data, the total national production reached 1.2 million units. About 40 percent of that comes from ADM's production facilities,” Agus continued.
As a reminder, Daihatsu has factories in two locations. Such as in Gaya Motor, Sunter, North Jakarta and Karawang, West Java.
In addition, they also produce various types of vehicles domestically. For example, the Daihatsu Ayla, Sigra, Xenia, Sirion, Luxio, Terios, and Rocky.
Not to forget, there are also highly reliable commercial vehicles, namely the Daihatsu Gran Max pickup and Gran Max minibus.
Agus also explained that Daihatsu plays an important role in supporting Indonesia's four-wheeled vehicle export policy.
Because 22 percent of the country's total car exports come from Daihatsu's factory. With a market coverage of more than 60 countries worldwide.
“This achievement is inseparable from the company's performance, including the performance of the largest and most complete R&D center, which is fully supported by the sons and daughters of Indonesia,” the Minister of Industry added.
Furthermore, Agus explained that Daihatsu has a number of products with a Local Content Level (TKDN) averaging above 80 percent.
And collaborates with more than 1,700 supplier companies, including 700 local small and medium industries.
“This is in line with the government's policy direction to strengthen a national industrial structure that is inclusive and highly competitive,” the Minister of Industry affirmed.
He also hopes that Daihatsu can continue to bring a positive impact to the country. Especially for the domestic automotive industry.
