KatadataOTO – The decline in car sales in Indonesia has also affected the market in the commercial vehicle segment. This is evident from the declining sales figures of several manufacturers, including Mitsubishi Fuso.
The Japanese manufacturer only managed to achieve retail sales of 20,295 units from January to October 2025. This number is down by 2,120 units, or about 9.5 percent, compared to the same period last year.
It was recorded that from January to October 2024, Mitsubishi Fuso successfully sold 22,415 units.
Although slight, a decline also occurred on the wholesale side. From January to October 2025, the manufacturer only managed to ship 20,263 units.
This number is down 9.9 percent, or 2,231 units, compared to the same period last year. At that time, the company was able to sell 22,494 units.
Despite the sales decline, Mitsubishi Fuso says it is still optimistic about reaching its sales target. At the beginning of the year, they revealed their sales target was 42 percent of the total commercial market.
“Right now, we are still below target, at only around 39 percent. But we will certainly make optimal use of the remaining two months and are confident we can reach the target,” said Aji Jaya, Sales and Marketing Director of PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motor.
This situation is due to Indonesia's stagnant economic conditions in the third quarter. As a result, vehicle sales were not optimal.
Nevertheless, he revealed that entering the fourth quarter, there has finally been a growth in demand, especially from the logistics side. Therefore, it is not impossible for the market in that segment to continue to grow.
“Usually, four to five months before Eid, the demand for commercial vehicles will increase. This is because the logistics sector has to prepare for an increase in shipments,” he later said.
Not only that, the price of palm oil, which has been growing in recent months, is also claimed to affect the demand for commercial vehicles.
“Usually, if the price of palm oil is good, entrepreneurs start investing in trucks to ship their harvest. So, it is hoped that the market will also grow,” he concluded.
