KatadataOTO – Although still part of the alliance, Mitsubishi Motors has decided not to continue their investment in Ampere, the electric car brand owned by Renault. This is quite surprising as they had previously expressed support for the brand.

In fact, they had even committed to investing 200 million euros, or about Rp 3.6 trillion, in Ampere.

Although no longer investing, the Japanese company said it still supports the development of new cars based on Renault models.

“The company remains committed to exploring the possibility of future cooperation,” Mitsubishi wrote in its official statement.

As of this writing, the impact of Mitsubishi's decision on Ampere is not yet known. Renault, as the parent company, has also remained silent.

Nevertheless, the company must replan regarding this matter. This is because at the end of March 2025, Nissan also decided to stop its investment in Ampere.

This step was taken to save money and rescue the company, as they are currently facing quite severe financial pressure.\

Mitsubishi Electric Cars

Although no longer investing, Mitsubishi continues to develop its electric vehicles in various ways. One of which is by collaborating with Nissan.

Mitsubishi will later develop a car using the same platform as the Nissan Leaf, namely the CMF-EV.

The car, which falls into the SUV segment, will be launched in 2026 and will target countries in the North American region.

Meanwhile in Indonesia, Mitsubishi is already present in the electric car segment with the L100 EV. This model is here to meet the needs of the fleet market.

This car is equipped with a 20.1 kWh Lithium-ion battery. This power is used by the electric motor to produce 41 hp and 195 Nm of torque.

The achievable range on a full charge is 180 km.

Although it is a commercial vehicle, Mitsubishi has installed various features to support mobility. These include AC, a driver's seat heater, power steering, and comfortable suspension.

Several safety features are also available, such as driver and rear passenger airbags, ABS (Automatic Braking System), and ALC (Auto Light Control).
