KatadataOTO – The construction of the BYD factory in Indonesia is underway. This production facility is located in Subang, West Java.
However, the construction process has apparently encountered several obstacles. Such as disturbances from community organizations (ormas) and acts of thuggery.
“I heard there was thuggery disrupting the investment of BYD in Subang, West Java,” said Eddy Soeparno, Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI on his Instagram account, Monday (21/04).
Eddy also deeply regretted this incident. According to him, acts of thuggery are very detrimental.
Especially when experienced by parties who are investing their money in the country, as BYD is doing.
“I think it must be dealt with firmly, the government needs to be firm in handling this problem,” Eddy continued.
He stated that a firm crackdown on thuggery is carried out solely to create a safe investment environment.
“Investors should not come to Indonesia and then feel they do not get a guarantee of security. That is a fundamental thing for investment to enter Indonesia,” Eddy emphasized.
For your information, the BYD factory in Subang Smartpolitan, West Java will soon be completed. The facility is reportedly ready to produce electric cars by the end of 2025
Later, the presence of this facility can bring a positive impact. Such as labor absorption.
Because the BYD factory is said to require tens of thousands of employees to work on producing electric cars there.
“It needs a workforce of almost 18 thousand,” said Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR & Government Relations on his personal Instagram account some time ago.
Luther explained that the BYD factory in Subang will open a number of job vacancies. Such as for engineer and electronics positions.
Dedi Mulyadi, the Governor of West Java, also welcomed the presence of BYD's production facility. Because it can absorb a lot of manpower.
Therefore, the number one person in Bandung, Tasik and others intends to prepare his community to be able to work at the factory.
“This year, the West Java provincial government must prepare 18 thousand prospective workers for BYD, both skilled and unskilled labor,” Dedi said in the same post.
To realize that plan, Dedi immediately instructed the Regent of Subang, West Java to provide tens of thousands of prospective employees for the BYD factory.
He requested that the prospective workers have a strong mentality, so they can give their maximum ability to the EV (Electric Vehicle) manufacturer.
