BMW's latest premium SUV, the X3, will be launched in Indonesia in May 2025, ahead of the GIIAS 2025 automotive exhibition.
KatadataOTO – BMW Indonesia will introduce another new model in the premium SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) segment, namely the fourth-generation BMW X3.
The previous model was introduced to Indonesian consumers in early 2022. This latest version receives various changes, especially on the exterior.
In the global market, the BMW X3 comes in several variants, namely PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), gasoline, and diesel engine versions.
However, BMW Indonesia has not yet disclosed in detail which type will be presented to consumers.
Most likely, the PHEV type will not be introduced. They currently only have one PHEV model in the country, the BMW XM, which is sold for around Rp 5 billion and above on the road in Jakarta.
With a price tag still above the majority of PHEVs in Indonesia, the gasoline-engine BMW X3 has a greater potential to be introduced first.
“We will launch the new X3 very soon. Before GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025,” said Peter “Sunny” Medalla, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia, when met at PIK 2 on Wednesday (07/05).
When asked about a new PHEV model, Peter emphasized that his party will continue to monitor consumer needs.
“Not at the moment, there are no plans to bring in a PHEV or EV (new model). But of course, we are seriously considering it for the future,” said Peter.
For your information, the BMW X3 uses the latest design language that makes it look even more elegant. The most noticeable feature is the L-Shaped headlight motif, which is different from the previous version.
Compared to the previous model, the fourth-generation BMW X3 is 34 mm longer and 29 mm wider. Overall, the dimensions (L x W x H) of the X3 are 4,755 mm x 1,920 mm x 1,660 mm.
The M50 xDrive variant is equipped with a 3,000 cc six-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine, complete with mild hybrid technology. Meanwhile, the X3 20 xDrive uses a 2,000 cc engine.
On paper, the BMW X3 is claimed to produce 398 hp, which is distributed to all wheels through an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.
Currently, the BMW X3 in Indonesia is offered in three variants with a price range of Rp 1.3 billion to Rp 1.4 billion on the road in Jakarta. Here is the complete list.
