For the first time, the Nissan N7 electric car, designed specifically for the Chinese market, will be exported to various countries.
KatadataOTO – The electric car Nissan N7, a result of a collaboration with Dongfeng Motor in China, is ready to be exported to the global market in the near future. Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe are said to be its main targets.
Nissan itself is known to be facing a number of challenges in the era of electrification. Assistance from Chinese manufacturers has played a significant role in restoring Nissan's presence in the automotive world.
There are several reasons behind this decision. One of them is that the Nissan N7 became the joint venture model to garner 10,000 orders the fastest in China.
The price of the electric sedan is claimed to be competitive, starting at 119,900 yuan, or equivalent to around IDR 271.9 million.
The positive response from Chinese consumers has made the Japanese brand confident that the Nissan N7 will be in demand by global consumers.
However, the Nissan N7 was developed for the Chinese market. Japanese manufacturers like Toyota also have special models sold only in China with no plans for export.
The Nissan N7 is produced at Nissan's assembly facility in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. In terms of exterior, the car has a sleek and sporty look with an illuminated emblem right below the LED bar on the fascia.
There are not many additional components or accessories. From the side, the Nissan N7 at a glance resembles the BYD Seal electric sedan.
Its features are abundant. However, to comply with policies in several countries, a number of the Nissan N7's AI technology functions must be adjusted to be legally used.
Nissan is collaborating with the Chinese company IAT Automobile Technology to address this issue.
Specifically for the export market, Nissan and Dongfeng Motor formed NCIC or Nissan China Investment Co., which is wholly owned by Nissan.
Nissan believes that the competitive price of Chinese-produced electric cars can attract many orders in the global market.
If it comes to Indonesia, it is not impossible that the Nissan N7 will become a serious challenger to the BYD Seal. Currently, the majority of Japanese manufacturers have not yet introduced electric cars for consumers.
Toyota and Mazda have each prepared one model. The Toyota bZ4X is available on a spot order basis, while sales of the Mazda MX-30 were recently discontinued in Indonesia.
