KatadataOTO – The Polytron electric car officially launches tomorrow (06/05). The electric vehicle is a collaborative unit between Polytron and Skyworth.

Previously, Polytron was known as an electronics manufacturer in Indonesia. They began to enter the country's automotive business by introducing electric motorcycles.

To celebrate 50 years of business in Indonesia, Polytron is ready to introduce its first electric car.

“Taking advantage of this special momentum, Polytron is ready to step into a new chapter. By launching the latest electric-based automotive product,” said Tekno Wibowo, Commercial Director of Polytron, in a written statement some time ago.

Skyworth Group itself is a manufacturer based in Nanshan, Shenzhen, China. Founded in 1988, Skyworth's business line is similar to Polytron's, namely the design, manufacture, and sale of televisions and audio-visual products.

As a manufacturer of electric cars or NEVs (New Energy Vehicles), they have 12 years of experience. Skyworth has also obtained European Union product certification.

The collaboration project with Polytron will actually use the Skyworth K model. Based on the official website, the performance of this electric SUV is quite impressive.

The vehicle's range reaches 620 km based on the NEDC method. The battery capacity reaches 85.97 kWh, with the ability to recharge from 20 – 70 percent in under 45 minutes.

Then to accelerate from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h, it only takes 9.6 seconds.

Then regarding the price, the Polytron electric car has been registered with an NJKB (Motor Vehicle Sale Value) and is divided into two types.

The first, with the code PEV4 5S1 L52, has a base price of IDR 274 million. While the other variant is IDR 306 million.

Both of the figures above are the base price, meaning they do not include the series of taxes that will be added to become the vehicle's selling price to consumers.

According to Polytron's statement, their first electric car will be marketed to reach the general public. In other words, the unit's price tag will be more affordable.

Another fact is that the Polytron electric car will be assembled locally at the factory owned by Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM). This newest HIM facility is located in Purwakarta, West Java.

Later, Polytron will join several other Chinese brands such as Neta, Chery, BAIC, Aletra, and Jaecoo.
