KatadataOTO – The electric car from China, Nio Firefly, has started production in a right-hand drive configuration. It should be noted that this model was previously registered at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI).

The Nio Firefly, which debuted with left-hand drive, has now started production for Right Hand Drive (RHD) countries.

Reported by Carnewschina, production of the right-hand drive Nio Firefly has begun, and Singapore will be the first country to receive it.

“The first batch of these cars (right-hand drive Nio Firefly) will be sent to Singapore with plans for sales to other countries in the future,” wrote the Carnewschina report, quoted on Tuesday (18/11).

Compact electric car models seem to be receiving a positive response from consumers in Indonesia.

This is evident from the high sales of the BYD Atto 1 electric car, which is sold for around Rp 190 million. Within a few months of its debut, more than 9,000 units of the model were distributed to dealers.

This path is set to be followed by other manufacturers like Jetour X20e. Honda also intends to compete in a similar segment with the Honda Super One.

If it enters Indonesia, the Nio Firefly has the potential to become a competitor to the BYD Atto 1 and Honda Super One, which are expected to arrive next year.

For context, the price of the Nio Firefly in its home country ranges from 119,800 yuan to 125,800 yuan. This figure is equivalent to around Rp 282.3 million to Rp 296.4 million.

The availability of many storage pockets is one of the Nio Firefly's advantages. There is a trunk or compartment at the front that can hold a load equivalent to 95 liters.

The Nio Firefly is equipped with an electric motor producing 105 kW or about 141 hp. This allows the electric car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 8.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 150 km/h.

Meanwhile, its battery has a capacity of 42.1 kWh. According to the results of the CLTC testing method, its range is 420 kilometers.
