KatadataOTO – One of the compact electric car options marketed in Indonesia is the Seres E1. The product was launched two years ago.

However, the name of this EV (Electric Vehicle) is not very well-known in the country's automotive market. This is because only a few hundred units have been sold.

“We have now sold nearly 300 units (of the Seres E1). That's the total population since its initial launch,” said Cing Hok Rifin, Director Sales Center of PT Sokonindo Automobile in South Jakarta, on Monday (24/03).

He further stated that the sales figures for the Seres E1 are still far from the expectations of this Chinese brand.

According to him, electric car users are still concentrated in major cities, especially in Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi).

“EVs are strange, 91 percent (of sales) are still in Jakarta. Outside of that, it's still small due to a lack of infrastructure and other factors,” he continued.

Nevertheless, Seres is not giving up on marketing the E1 electric car to consumers in the country.

They will strive to increase sales in the future. One way is by strengthening the dealer network.

“Perhaps our strategy will be to add more showrooms in Jakarta first, so that E1 sales can meet the target,” Cing Hok Rifin stated.

For your information, the Seres E1 was first introduced in Indonesia at the PEVS (Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show) 2023.

The car features a rather cute design and is equipped with projector headlights complete with DRL (Daytime Running Light).

For its power source, the Seres E1 is equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. It is capable of offering a maximum range of 220 km on a single charge.

As for the powertrain, the Seres E1 carries an electric motor with up to 40.2 hp and 100 Nm of torque.

The Seres E1 is equipped with a number of safety features, starting from ABS (Anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake distribution), BA (Brake Assist), Hill Hold Control, to a parking camera.

Specifically for the Seres E1 Type L, Electronic Stability Control and an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold are also available.

As a reminder, this EV is sold in two variants: the Seres E1 B is priced at around Rp 189 million. Then there is the L type, which can be purchased for Rp 219 million OTR (On The Road) for the Jabodetabek area.
