Joining the electric car options at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, here's a look at Sharp's debut EV MPV, the LDK+.
KatadataOTO – The entry of electronics companies into the automotive sector is no longer a new thing. After Polytron, now the Japanese manufacturer, Sharp is also making an electric car.
Sharp will rely on the development facilities of the Taiwanese manufacturer, Foxconn. The brand had previously collaborated with Mitsubishi to develop Electric Vehicles (EVs).
Sharp is using the prototype base they developed in 2024, the LDK+ Electric Minivan, but with several improvements.
Quoted from Carscoops, Sharp's first electric car will be introduced to the public at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
Carrying a minivan concept, the Sharp LDK+ has a design like a typical Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV).
Compared to the 2024 version of the LDK+, this latest model appears more elegant with a matte finish. Then, its interior resembles a living room.
Access to the cabin is very spacious thanks to the absence of a B-pillar on the Sharp LDK+. The luxurious feel is enhanced by the inclusion of ambient lighting that extends to the door trim area.
But what's most interesting, Sharp has made the electric car capable of integrating with various home appliances, from air conditioners to washing machines.
This is made possible because the LDK+ electric car is built on a special platform made by Sharp, namely AIoT.
Sharp's electric car also serves as a mobile generator, equipped with a Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) function.
Set to enter the MPV segment, the Sharp LDK+ has an interior that can be customized for both personal and professional needs.
Unfortunately, there is no further information regarding the technical specifications of the Sharp LDK+ electric car. However, the Japanese brand is expected to share more details about the LDK+ at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
For your information, in 2024 Sharp presented a prototype with a very futuristic look.
The car that became the forerunner to the LDK+ was wrapped in a metallic gray color. On the front, there are LED lights framing an embossment that reads 'Sharp'.
Entering the cabin, the appearance is rather plain but very different from a conventional car. Resembling a living room, there is also a large screen at the very back.
The second-row seats can be rotated according to passenger needs. This home-like comfort and flexibility are maintained in the latest LDK+ which will debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
