KatadataOTOBad luck was unavoidable for Azam Azman Natawijaya, a former member of the DPR (House of Representatives). Because he just suffered a misfortune.

Seven of the 13 cars in his private garage were engulfed in flames some time ago.

"A car garage on Jalan Sidosermo Indah is on fire," the Instagram account @call112surabaya wrote recently.

According to the report, the fire that engulfed a number of four-wheeled vehicles occurred on Friday (18/04) at 16:17 WIB.

Command Center 112 Surabaya stated that they received a report of a resident's garage on fire.

Firefighters then moved to the former DPR member's house. They tried to conquer the flames.

"The fire was successfully extinguished by @damkar112suroboyo officers and did not spread to surrounding buildings," they continued.

On the other hand, it was mentioned that there were several four-wheeled vehicles burned inside Azam Azman Natawijaya's garage.

For example, a Toyota Alphard, Innova, Land Cruiser, Mitsubishi Lancer, Daihatsu Taft, a BMW of an unknown model, and an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) that had been modified into an ambulance.

Meanwhile, it was said that there was no activity in the garage at the time of the fire. Thus, there were no casualties.

The authorities are now conducting an investigation to find out the cause of the fire that destroyed seven cars belonging to the former DPR member.

It is suspected that an electrical short circuit occurred before the fire. This is because the Toyota Land Cruiser in the garage had previously experienced a problem.

The electrical system of the Japanese four-wheeled vehicle all turned on. The owner, upon seeing this, immediately tried to turn off his car.

“But there were no sparks, after that indicator appeared, the (car) was turned off and all contacts were disconnected,” said Kusaeri, Head of Surabaya Fire Department Rayon 3.

Now, the police of the City of Heroes are gathering evidence and conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire at the residence of Azam Azman Natawijaya.

For your information, Azam once served as a member of the DPR. He was entrusted with the position of Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the DPR RI during the Joko Widodo administration, or in the 2014-2019 period.
