KatadataOTO – PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) is bringing its future product to the GIIAS 2025 event. Interestingly, the unit is its first electric car in the country.
This ensures that next year, the competition for electric vehicles will heat up, as a new challenger named eVitara is on its way.
The Suzuki eVitara brought to ICE BSD this time is the production version, whereas on the previous occasion (GIIAS 2024), it was still a concept car.
"This is not just an electric car, but the Suzuki eVitara. An evolution of our journey, and it will be launched in early 2026," said Minoru Amano, President Director of Suzuki Indonesia at ICE BSD, Tuesday (23/07).
According to several sources, the Suzuki eVitara is equipped with a 49 kWh LFP battery. Its range is claimed to reach 346 km on a full charge.
There is also a version equipped with a 61 kWh battery, believed to be able to travel 428 km using the WLTP method.
The Suzuki eVitara also comes with two drivetrain options. First is the 2WD (Wheel Drive) with a single electric motor.
Then there is also the 4WD All Grip e-system option. This technology was developed specifically for their first EV.
Meanwhile, the Suzuki eVitara is built on the electric car version of the Heartect platform.
To welcome the arrival of the Suzuki eVitara, the Japanese manufacturer claims to have started preparing supporting infrastructure.
This is being done to make it easier for users of the Suzuki eVitara electric car, which will soon be on the market.
"Suzuki doesn't want to be reckless, releasing the product first and then taking care of the (infrastructure) later. We want everything to be comprehensive," said Harold Donnel, 4W Marketing Director of PT SIS some time ago.
Indeed, the availability of infrastructure such as public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) is still one of the public's considerations when buying an electric car.
Therefore, this factor is also one of Suzuki's concerns before bringing in the eVitara.
Besides charging stations, the readiness of mechanics at official workshops must also be ensured to be capable of handling electric cars if there are problems.
"Especially our internal readiness and that of the mechanics. What if this car has a problem and so on," Harold emphasized.
Unfortunately, he could not yet reveal information regarding the price range if the Suzuki eVitara eventually hits the road in Indonesia.
