KatadataOTO – The government, through the Ministry of Industry, is encouraging Xiaomi to invest in the electric car sector in Indonesia. This move aims to increase the variety of electrified vehicle options in the country.

Moreover, the government is indeed encouraging global car manufacturers to continue investing in Indonesia.

“Xiaomi has launched an electric vehicle product, and we are encouraging the company to explore investment in Indonesia. This will enrich vehicle choices for consumers while strengthening the national green industry ecosystem,” said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.

The request was conveyed during a bilateral meeting with Jon Dove, Associate Government Affairs Director of Xiaomi Communications Co. Ltd., in Shanghai, China, some time ago. Additionally, Agus also appreciated the company for its existing investment in Indonesia to develop the smartphone market.

It should be noted that Xiaomi is already producing electric vehicles. One of them is the Xiaomi SU7, which is sold starting at 209,900 yuan, or equivalent to Rp 467.8 million, for the base model.

The market is also quite large, so customers have to wait a considerable time to get this product in their garages.

This car comes in three variants: Standard, Pro, and Max Performance Version. Each has its own advantages.

The SU7 Standard variant, for example, uses an LFP Blade Battery from BYD with a capacity of 73.6 kWh. With this battery, the car can travel up to 700 km. The SU7 Standard is equipped with an electric motor capable of producing 295 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Thanks to this, the car can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 5.28 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h.

Meanwhile, the SU7 Pro uses a CATL Shenxing battery with a capacity of 94.3 kWh, capable of traveling up to 830 km. The power is still the same, 295 hp and 400 Nm of torque, with an acceleration from 0–100 km/h also in just 5.28 seconds.

As for the highest variant, the SU7 Max Performance Version, it uses a CATL Qilin battery with a capacity of 101 kWh that can be used to travel up to 800 km. This variant is equipped with two electric motors that produce a total of 663 hp and 838 Nm of torque. Thanks to this combination, the car can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds, with a top speed of 285 km/h.
