This Electric Car Will Be Heavily Modified in 2025

KatadataOTO – Modification of cars is currently not just limited to conventional vehicles. The presence of various electric vehicle models has turned out to be an attraction for local modifiers.

Wuling Air ev was once one of the products frequently altered by its owners. This is because a number of its modification packages are already mass-produced and easy to find.

The Air ev itself is a popular EV (Electric Vehicle) widely used by the public. In fact, towards the end of 2024, Wuling dealers revealed that the waiting list could reach up to two months.

But now there is a newcomer, BYD. The manufacturer from China has brought three models, namely the Dolphin, Atto 3, and Seal, with wholesale figures (distribution from factory to dealer) reaching two thousand almost every month since July 2024.

Seeing this, NMAA (National Modificator and Aftermarket Association) predicts that BYD will be heavily modified throughout 2025, especially considering its sales so far.

“There will definitely be many BYDs, because the market is quite large now. Last year there were also several modified BYDs,” said Andre Mulyadi, Founder of NMAA, to KatadataOTO recently.

He further revealed that at the IMX (Indonesia Modification and Lifestyle Expo) 2024 event, there was already a BYD Seal created by a local modifier.

“Previously (IMX 2024) featured a BYD Seal, a new car that had already been modified. Changed the coilovers, brakes, large rims,” explained Andre.

According to him, in 2024 he said there were already a number of modified BYD cars. However, Andre did not specify the models in detail.

“There are already quite a few Wuling Binguos. Then other new electric cars will follow,” he said.

It is possible that more modified electric car models, besides the Wuling Air ev and BYD Seal, will be displayed at the IMX 2025 event.

This year's event carries the theme 8VOLUTION, marking the eighth year of IMX and is touted to be the best in its history.

The exhibition will also be a platform for education, collaboration, and promotion for local industry players to compete on the international stage.
