KatadataOTO – The form of the Wuling Starlight 560 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), which is believed to be coming as the Wuling Almaz Darion, has begun to be seen in China ahead of its launch this year.

The model is believed to be the replacement for the Almaz domestically. Currently, the Almaz is available with a hybrid engine option and has not been updated.

Just like the Cortez Darion, the model will be offered with three powertrain options: a gasoline engine, a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), and a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).

In terms of design, it is identical to the design registered with the MIIT in China. The unit caught on camera during road tests appears to be the gasoline variant, judging by its grille.

Wuling is seen applying a new design language that will become the identity of the Starlight or Darion series in Indonesia.

The front appearance emphasizes a sporty feel, dominated by black. The headlights are shaped like two horizontal lines, complemented by a silver W emblem in the center.

Although there are three variants, it seems the Wuling Almaz Darion will follow the Cortez Darion's scheme. There will only be two powertrain options: PHEV and BEV.

The Wuling Almaz Darion PHEV is said to use a 1,500 cc engine, capable of producing 78 kW or the equivalent of 105 hp.

An additional 20.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery is included, offering a pure electric range of 100 kilometers based on the CLTC testing method.

However, there are no detailed technical specifications yet regarding the electric motor in the Wuling Almaz Darion.

Meanwhile, the BEV variant of the Wuling Almaz Darion is equipped with a 100 kW (134 hp) electric motor paired with two battery options, 54.5 kWh or 56.7 kWh, made of lithium iron phosphate.

There are several range options to choose from according to consumer needs: 450 kilometers, 470 kilometers, 480 kilometers, and 500 kilometers.

In terms of dimensions, the Wuling Almaz Darion has a length of 4,745 mm, a width of 1,850 mm, a height of 1,755 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,810 mm.

Later, consumers will be able to choose between a 5-seater or a 7-seater configuration.

Although it has been registered with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property or DJKI, Wuling has not yet announced official information regarding the arrival of the Almaz Darion.
