Supplied by PT Pindad, the Maung MV3 has been officially designated as a locally produced operational vehicle for the Indonesian National Armed Forces
KatadataOTO – A total of 700 special Maung MV3 vehicles from PT Pindad were handed over to the TNI and Polri to be used as operational vehicles. It should be noted that the model is already locally produced.
The units handed over are painted in different colors, according to the distinctive colors of the institutions using the Maung MV3.
This is considered an important achievement, where the defense industry uses national products. The handover ceremony was held at Husein Sastranegara Air Base, Bandung, West Java.
“The total is quite large, approximately 4,000 units, but we are arranging the handover in stages. Because production has a certain capacity,” said Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, as quoted by Antara, Saturday (1/3).
It was further explained that in the first stage, 700 units of the Maung MV3 were supplied. The details are 50 units to the TNI Headquarters, 400 for the TNI AD, 100 for the TNI AL, while 50 are used by Polri.
The use of the Maung MV3 is said to be a sign that the national defense industry is rising to support the country's ability to maintain national stability.
In the future, the government is committed to continuing to provide operational support for both the TNI and Polri.
For your information, the Maung MV3 was previously used by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, at the presidential inauguration ceremony which took place on October 20, 2024.
The newest variant of the MV3, the MV3 Garuda Limousine, was further developed to accommodate the needs and operations of presidential activities.
Its exterior is designed to look tough with a rather boxy shape and sharp angles. The body material is ammunition-resistant, and it is fitted with B5/B6 level bulletproof glass and Run Flat Tyres, allowing it to continue moving even when punctured.
To make it easier for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle, the MV3 Garuda Limousine is equipped with an automatic footstep. Meanwhile, the interior uses wood finish accent materials, captain seats, and is equipped with a 12-inch head unit and a 360-degree camera.
Not to be forgotten are other components to support passenger comfort, such as a cooled storage for food or drinks and a portable WiFi.
The Maung MV3 was also modified into a Pope Mobile to be used as transportation for Pope Francis during his visit to Indonesia.
