KatadataOTO – PT PLN UID Jakarta Raya revealed that the number of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in the Capital City has reached 532 units. Of that number, 300 of them are already using fast charging technology

With this, it is hoped that the public can be more confident in using electric vehicles as their main mode of transportation.

“The habits of electric vehicle users in Jakarta are fast-paced, so we provide more fast charging options," said Andika Rama, Priority Services Manager of PT PLN (Persero) UID Jakarta Raya, as reported by Antara (22/07).

Thanks to this facility, charging an electric car battery from 0-80 percent only takes about 30 to 40 minutes.

This time is clearly faster than medium charging. Charging from 0 to 80 percent takes about 3 to 5 hours.

Medium charging facilities are usually available at offices, cafes, restaurants, and a number of car or motorcycle dealerships.

Andika revealed that PLN will add about 500 SPKLU units in the DKI Jakarta area. This is because ideally, 1 SPKLU is only used by 17 vehicles, while the current condition is 1 SPKLU for 45 EVs.

"So later there will be around 982-1,000 chargers that will be prepared by PLN UID Jakarta," he then added.

It was previously reported that the government plans to revise a regulation where the construction of SPKLUs can be carried out by third parties. So that charging stations can be built more quickly in the future.

"We are revising one of the government regulations so that SPKLUs can be handled by third parties, allowing them to spread quickly throughout Indonesia," said Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) some time ago.

He explained that at least seven companies have already built EV factories in Indonesia. With a production target of 2.5 million electric vehicle units per year by 2030, a mature ecosystem is needed.

The existence of SPKLUs is considered very important to encourage the growth of EV usage. Because with more of these facilities, the public can be more confident in using electric cars.
