KatadataOTO – Chinese car brands in Indonesia are becoming more diverse and offering an interesting variety of models, especially for the electrification line.

Although in terms of numbers they cannot yet directly compete with Japanese manufacturers, the trend for Chinese car brands is quite positive.

Processed from Gaikindo data, as of October 2025, BYD once again occupies the first position as the best-selling Chinese car brand. BYD's retail sales (delivery from dealer to consumer) reached 9,732 units.

This rapid increase was due to the delivery of the compact electric car, BYD Atto 1, to consumers. The compact EV was just launched at the GIIAS 2025 event.

In second place is Wuling, which recorded sales of 1,744 units, an increase of 18.8 percent from September's 1,467 units.

Another manufacturer, Xpeng, also experienced a 26.8 percent increase in sales, successfully delivering 104 electric vehicle units to consumers.

Xpeng currently only sells two models in Indonesia, namely the X9 and G6, which will be locally assembled next year.

Cumulative four-wheeled vehicle sales did experience a recovery in October 2025, slowly approaching Gaikindo's minimum target of 750 thousand units.

The initial target of 900 thousand units seems still difficult to achieve, considering the market conditions and purchasing power have not fully recovered.
