Based on Gaikindo wholesale data, here are the 10 best-selling electric cars in Indonesia in January 2025.
KatadataOTO – The number of electric car distributions from factory to dealer, or wholesales, successfully reached 2,394 units in total. Newcomers like BYD M6 and Chery J6 contributed quite significantly despite not being launched long ago.
Based on data from Gaikindo (The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries), the BYD M6 successfully distributed 581 units. Meanwhile, the off-road SUV Chery J6 accounted for 423 units.
Models from both brands also began to fill the top 10 rankings last month. These include the BYD M6, Seal, and Atto 3, as well as the Chery J6 and Omoda E5.
Other electric cars like the Air ev and Ioniq 5, which are incentive recipients, actually saw their numbers decline this month. They contributed 134 units and 57 units, respectively.
Then, the compact SUV from Hyundai, the New Kona Electric, contributed 27 units to wholesales. Above it was the Neta X with 33 units.
The percentage is still much smaller when compared to the wholesales of gasoline-powered vehicles or HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles).
However, it seems this figure will continue to grow throughout 2025, as it does not yet include the achievements of brands that have just entered Indonesia this year.
There is also Geely with the EX5. Then, Chery officially brought the Jaecoo J5 EV to be introduced to the public, but units can already be ordered if prospective customers are interested.
As the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia develops, such as SPKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations), it is believed that consumers will become more confident in using electric cars for daily mobility.
The presence of many new products with a wide price range also provides many options for prospective buyers, who can choose according to their needs and budget.
In full, here is KatadataOTO's summary of electric car wholesale achievements in Indonesia throughout January 2025. It should be noted that this figure represents distribution from the factory to the dealer, not retail sales, which is delivery from the dealer to the consumer.
