KatadataOTO – The presence of the Toyota Veloz Hybrid in Indonesia will not only meet the needs of the domestic market. This is because the car will also be exported to several countries.

This is similar to other domestically-made Toyota cars like the Toyota Yaris Cross and Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix. Thus, it is hoped that Indonesia's position as a vehicle-producing country will become stronger.

“We will strive for it because ideally, all domestically produced vehicles can be exported,” said Bob Azzam, Vice President Director of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) some time ago.

However, he admitted that it still takes time to realize this ambition. This is because there are several challenges they must resolve before the Toyota Avanza Hybrid can be exported.

“Currently, it's still right-hand drive, whereas most export destinations are left-hand drive. So, there are stages to change it, and for now, the focus is being adjusted first,” he then added.

If the Veloz starts being sold abroad, it is not impossible that vehicle export performance will further increase.

It should be noted that Toyota Indonesia has exported at least 3 million vehicles. They reached this figure in October 2025, having started in 1987.

At that time, they released the Toyota Kijang to Brunei Darussalam.

From January to October 2025, Toyota Indonesia has shipped 218,162 units. The most exported vehicles are SUVs like the Fortuner, Rush, and Raize, with a total of 79,558 units

In second place, Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) also contributed a large number, namely 75,523 units. The MPVs in question include the Kijang Innova, Kijang Innova Zenix (gasoline engine), Avanza, Town/Lite Ace, and Veloz.

The third-largest contribution to Toyota's exports from Indonesia came from small cars, including Low-Cost Green Cars (LCGC) like the Agya and Yaris Cross, totaling 47,333 units.

Hybrid car exports also showed positive results. The Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid was exported in 9,269 units, and the Yaris Cross Hybrid at 6,479 units.

It should be remembered that Toyota's total exports in 2024 were 166,531 units. This means there was an increase of about 31 percent throughout 2025.
