Unlike Indonesia, which consistently supports the development of electric vehicles, Donald Trump, in contrast, halted EV programs.

KatadataOTO – After being re-inaugurated as president of the United States, Donald Trump immediately took various important steps. One of them was to halt Joe Biden's program related to electric vehicles.
The target of making electric cars account for 50 percent of the total automotive market by 2030 has been stopped. In addition, the disbursement of funds for the development of electric charging stations was also halted.
Whereas in the previous administration, Uncle Sam's country had prepared funds of USD 5 billion to support the program. Additionally, tax breaks for electric vehicles are being considered for termination.
His decision is certainly regretted by many parties because the United States has been one of the countries with the largest sales of electrified vehicles. His move will certainly have a major impact on demand.
This decision is actually in line with what he said before being re-elected as president. During his campaign, he often expressed differing opinions regarding vehicles and promised to stop it.
Reported by Antara, he will even loosen exhaust emission regulations. With this, car manufacturers can produce vehicles that emit pollution.
Trump's decision is clearly different compared to Indonesia, which is still continuing the policies of the previous government. Electric vehicles continue to be promoted through a number of incentives so they can compete with combustion technology.
The Indonesian government's move has successfully prompted several global manufacturers, especially from China, to invest. Not only as a market, they are also committed to making the country a production hub in the future.
One of the companies that has committed to building a production facility is BYD. The electric car manufacturer from China has already started, and it is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Not only that, the government has also provided a policy to give incentives for hybrid cars. This is claimed to be able to improve air quality, which is said to be increasingly unhealthy.
Thus, it is hoped that people can more easily choose environmentally friendly vehicles that suit their needs.
