KatadataOTO – VinFast brought the VF Wild concept electric car to the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week or GJAW 2025 event. The prototype had previously been introduced to the public in 2024.

The VF Wild concept car has a futuristic look typical of electric cars. Its doors feature a suicide door concept and are frameless, adding to the modern feel of the VF Wild.

The Vietnamese manufacturer revealed that the presence of the VF Wild is part of a study to test the market for electric-powered double cabin trucks in the country.

“Specifically for the VF Wild, we want to listen to feedback from the market,” said Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, CEO of VinFast Indonesia, when met on the sidelines of GJAW 2025 recently.

In Indonesia, there is currently only one electric-powered pickup offered to consumers. It is a Chinese product from JAC Motors called the Trekker T9 EV.

Its appearance resembles a gasoline-powered car, at a glance identical to the Toyota Hilux double cabin pickup. Meanwhile, VinFast chose a more eccentric design.

If there is significant demand in the electric-powered double cabin pickup segment, VinFast said it would not rule out the possibility of bringing the production version of the VF Wild to the country.

“Product-wise, we already have the prototype. But we also have to measure how big the potential is,” said Kerry.

VinFast is still in the finalization stage to determine the final version of the VinFast VF Wild electric car prototype.

This includes the vehicle's technical specifications, including the battery, as well as a price range that might be acceptable to VinFast's target consumers.

“So this is still just the beginning, the concept for the product itself (VF Wild) is being finalized,” Kerry emphasized.

It should be noted that information regarding the VinFast VF Wild is quite minimal. During its debut at CES 2024, it was only explained that the VinFast VF Wild has quite large dimensions with a length of 5,324 mm and a width of 1,997 mm.

The rear bed of the VF Wild is one of the features VinFast wants to highlight. Because that part can accommodate a lot of cargo, and can be extended from 1.5 meters to 2.4 meters if the second-row seats are folded.

The VinFast VF Wild was designed by VinFast together with GoMotiv studio, taking about 8,000 hours in the process.
