KatadataOTO – VinFast is one of the manufacturers receiving import incentives for Completely Built-Up (CBU) electric cars from the government.

Thanks to these subsidies, the lineup of Vietnamese-made electric cars can be sold at competitive prices even though they are still fully imported from their country of origin.

However, it should be noted that one of the requirements for receiving import incentives for electric cars is a commitment to local assembly by 2026.

The number of vehicles that must be locally assembled next year will be adjusted according to the brand's total imports in 2025.

Processed from Gaikindo data, in the January-November 2025 period, VinFast has imported 17,222 electric car units for Indonesian consumers.

The most imported model is the VinFast VF e34. For your information, the VF e34 is used as the Green SM taxi fleet.

The import total for the VinFast VF e34 is 9,187 units. Then there is the Electric Vehicle (EV) VF 3 with 3,377 units.

The VinFast VF 3 is an attractive option for a small-sized electric car. Previously, Indonesia only had the Wuling Air ev and Seres E1.

In March 2025, imports of the VinFast VF 3 reached their highest figure at 1,247 units, one month after its launch at the Indonesia International Motor Show or IIMS 2025 automotive exhibition.

In 2026, the VF 3 will be the first VinFast model to be locally assembled at the Subang, West Java assembly facility.

It was then mentioned that its production capacity is 50,000 units per year, thus meeting the requirements for the import incentives for electric cars received throughout 2025.

“The first phase of construction will take 17 months and use about 10 hectares. Meanwhile, the total investment is around USD 300 million or about 4.8 trillion,” said Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, CEO of VinFast Indonesia in Subang, some time ago.
