VinFast VF 3 Priced Below Wuling Air ev, Now Available for Order

KatadataOTO – Vietnamese manufacturer, VinFast is ready to bring in a new model this year. They plan to launch their newest product, the VF 3, at the IIMS 2025 (Indonesia International Motor Show) event.

Although not yet officially introduced, a number of salespeople have already started offering the unit to interested consumers. The price of the VinFast VF 3 is claimed to be under IDR 200 million.

“The VinFast VF 3 is already available for pre-booking. With a battery subscription, the estimate is around IDR 160 million, while including the battery it's around IDR 190 million,” said a VinFast salesperson when contacted by KatadataOTO on Sunday (12/1).

However, they emphasized that this figure is still an estimate as the launch time is February 2025.

Another salesperson revealed that prospective customers only need to prepare a down payment of around IDR 3 million for pre-booking.

“It can be for a queue booking fee of around IDR 3 million. Promised delivery in March,” said the salesperson to KatadataOTO.

If it enters Indonesia with a price tag of around IDR 160 million, it has the potential to become the cheapest electric car, a title previously held by the Wuling Air ev. 

New Competitor for Wuling Air ev

The dimensions of the VinFast VF 3 are 3,190 mm x 1,679 mm x 1,622 mm, slightly larger than the Wuling Air ev which measures L x W x H at 2,974 mm x 1,505 mm x 1,631 mm.

Both also have a 4-seater configuration, adapted to the mobility needs of urban consumers. However, when it comes to driving range, the VinFast VF 3 still has less variation than the Air ev.

The battery in the VinFast VF 3 is an LFP or Lithium Iron Phosphate with a capacity of 18.64 kWh, offering a range of about 215 km on a single charge.

Meanwhile, the Wuling Air ev is offered in a Standard Range option in the range of IDR 179.1 million-200 million (200 km) or a Long Range at around IDR 300 million (300 km).
