VinFast VF 3 Set to Enter Indonesia This Year at IIMS 2025

KatadataOTO – Besides Chinese electric cars, Indonesia will also welcome a new model from VinFast this year, the VinFast VF 3. The product is touted to be a new rival to the Wuling Air ev.

Different from their previous electric car lineup, the VinFast VF 3 is a compact three-door EV. What sets it apart from the Wuling Air ev is its design language.

Not long ago, VinFast revealed that its units are starting road tests and will be launched in the near future.

“Yes, that's right, this is the VinFast VF 3. That's the plan, (to launch) at IIMS 2025 (Indonesia International Motor Show),” said Surachman Nugroho, Sales and Network Director of PT VinFast Automobile Indonesia to KatadataOTO, Saturday (4/1).

IIMS itself will be held from February 13-23, 2025. Unfortunately, he was still reluctant to provide further information regarding predictions or its price range.

However, to give an idea, the VinFast VF 3 in its home country is sold starting from 9,200 USD. If converted to rupiah, the figure is equivalent to around Rp 149 million, not including the battery subscription fee.

In the Philippines, the VinFast VF 3 is priced starting from 645 thousand pesos (around Rp 179.4 million). This already includes the battery subscription fee.

It should be noted that VinFast provides a battery rental scheme, including in Indonesia. This procedure is expected to make it easier for VinFast electric car users so they don't have to worry about the battery warranty, as everything is covered by the manufacturer.

The VinFast VF 3 has a unique SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) style appearance. At a glance, its design looks similar to one of Wuling's products in China, the Baojun Yep.

The front fascia and rear are given the characteristic minimalist VinFast logo with an elongated chromatic accent on its left and right sides.

A variety of color options are offered, from Crimson Red, Electric Blue, Rose Pink to Summer Yellow.

Speaking of specifications, the VinFast VF 3 has dimensions of L x W x H at 3,190 mm x 1,679 mm x 1,652 mm, slightly larger than the Wuling Air ev (2,974 mm x 1,505 mm x 1,631 mm).

The battery used is an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) with a capacity of 18.64 kWh, paired with a single electric motor, producing 40 hp and a peak torque of 110 Nm.

Power is sent to the rear wheels (RWD/Rear Wheel Drive). With that configuration, the VinFast VF 3 can travel a distance of 215 km (NEDC) on a single full charge.
