Vinfast in Indonesia continues to develop its business lines to support the government in realizing clean energy.
KatadataOTO – The era of electrification in the transportation sector continues to grow. Especially for personal electric vehicles, which continue to receive a positive response from the Indonesian public.
Government policies have played a role in increasing consumer interest. Meanwhile, manufacturers are not only marketing quality products but are also involved in creating the EV ecosystem.
Vinfast is one of the brands offering electric cars in Indonesia. Not only that, this Vietnamese brand is also helping to develop the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.
Vinfast entered the Indonesian automotive market in 2024. The brand's business line movements have been massive in a short amount of time.
“Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest population and a strong demographic bonus. Electric vehicle adoption is still low, but this year it is showing rapid growth,” said Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, CEO of VinFast Indonesia, some time ago.
To show its commitment, Vinfast plans to build 63,000 SPKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations) in Indonesia.
Then in ASEAN itself, there will be 100,000 SPKLUs spread across Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The above figure is planned to be fully realized by 2030.
To realize this, Vinfast is partnering with Streego to expand the electric car charging infrastructure.
In Indonesia, the investment disbursed by Vinfast to build SPKLUs reaches 1.2 billion US dollars, or around Rp 18.6 trillion.
Then, to attract customers, a number of interesting programs are being held. Such as a battery rental system.
As a result, consumers can save more on daily expenses. It is even claimed that customers can gain benefits of up to Rp 74 million.
Then, in an effort to get closer to domestic consumers, Vinfast continues to increase the number of its official dealers.
To date, Vinfast already has 22 dealers spread across various regions in Indonesia.
As for the after-sales network, it is targeted to reach 500 workshops, including collaborations with third parties.
“One of our expansion strategies is to develop the ecosystem throughout Indonesia,” said Kariyanto.
Regarding the investment itself, Vinfast is currently completing a car assembly plant in the Subang area, West Java.
The facility is said to begin trial runs in December 2025. The factory investment is stated to reach Rp 3.5 trillion.
