KatadataOTO – Voltron Indonesia has announced special preparations for the 2025 Eid homecoming. This is being done to accommodate the needs of people traveling for the homecoming using electric cars.
Thus, it is hoped that people can be more at ease even when making long-distance journeys.
“We are already present in 12 rest areas from Jakarta to Banyuwangi with AC and DC charging. So, people who plan to travel for the homecoming using the toll road should feel secure,” said Abdul Rahman Elly, Founder & CEO of Voltron Indonesia, during the inauguration of the Hyper Fast Charging SPKLU (25/02).
Not only that, he also revealed that his company has provided SPKLUs on non-toll routes. Thanks to this, people can be more confident when driving during the Eid homecoming.
“The Pantura route is already available and operational. For the homecoming, it's not a problem because we are also supported by PLN,” he then added.
Each SPKLU also provides fast charging, so vehicle owners do not have to wait too long when charging.
Unfortunately, Voltron admits it cannot yet provide services on the Trans-Sumatra toll road. Nevertheless, Abdul Rahman Elly is working to enter that area.
“We are exploring with Hutama Karya and it is still under discussion. Perhaps it's not a priority right now, but we'll see in the future,” he then added.
Besides Voltron, PT PLN is also preparing for an increase in charging demand at SPKLUs. This is because, based on PLN's records, the use of electric cars during long holidays continues to surge.
During the 2023/2024 Christmas and New Year period, only 1,290 electric car units were used for long-distance travel. Then, during the 2024 Eid holiday, the number increased to 4,314 units.
Furthermore, during the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year period, the number of electric vehicles used for long-distance travel was 13,183 units.
This high growth has led PLN to predict a significant increase during the 2025 Eid homecoming. In fact, Edi Srimulyanti, Director of Retail and Commerce at PT PLN (Persero), estimates there will be 31,200 electric car units in operation during Eid 2025.
“With this increasing number, the occupancy of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) is also projected to continue to rise,” he said, as reported by Antara.
