Why the GWM Ora 03 is Only Now Being Sold, Despite Being Introduced Two Years Ago

KatadataOTO – GWM Ora 03 is now officially on sale in Indonesia. The electric car was launched on Thursday (26/06).

The arrival of this Electric Vehicle (EV) has been eagerly awaited by many. Because the GWM Ora 03 was introduced a long time ago.

According to records, the electric four-wheeled vehicle was already exhibited at the GIIAS 2023 event.

GWM Indonesia also provided an explanation as to why they are only now selling the GWM Ora 03 in the country.

"So we want to ensure that the Ora 03 is present in accordance with the needs of Indonesian consumers," said Martina Danuningrat, Strategy & Marketing Director of GWM Indonesia in Jakarta a few days ago.

Martina further mentioned that they conducted various studies to find out what potential buyers want.

So the GWM Ora 03 can be relied upon for various activities. Both for daily mobility and out-of-town trips.

"We needed in-depth research, so now we are offering a very attractive price that suits the needs of consumers in Indonesia," Martina emphasized.

For your information, for the first phase, the GWM Ora 03 is still in Completely Built Up (CBU) status. It will then be produced domestically at the end of the year.

Later, the assembly process for GWM's new electric car will utilize Inchcape's production facility in Wanaherang, Bogor, West Java.

"Hopefully, by the end of this year, we will have started CKD. So next year we will start sales with CKD," she continued.

Nevertheless, GWM ensures the price of the Ora 03 will not change even after it is manufactured at the Wanaherang factory in Bogor, West Java.

This is because they believe the GWM Ora 03 has premium quality. Therefore, its price will not decrease.

"Indeed, we are stabilizing the price; whether it's CKD or CBU, the price is the same," Martina concluded.

As a reminder, the GWM Ora 03 relies on a 143 hp electric motor with a peak torque of 210 Nm.

It is then paired with a 47.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, claimed to be able to travel up to 400 kilometers on a single charge (NEDC).

The performance offered is quite capable, able to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds.

If you are interested in buying, the price of the GWM Ora 03 is only Rp 369 million for orders placed from this June to August or at GIIAS 2025.

Meanwhile, if purchased outside of that period, the GWM Ora 03 is offered at a price of Rp 379 million On The Road (OTR) Jakarta.
