Wuling Motors responded to the incident of one Air ev unit catching fire in Bandung, West Java.
KatadataOTO – Recently, an Air ev electric car unit in Bandung was completely burned. The incident was successfully handled by the local Fire Department (Damkar) in a short time.
In response to this, Wuling expressed its concern and is committed to communicating with the related consumer.
Furthermore, a more detailed investigation regarding the cause of the Wuling Air ev fire will be conducted.
In a post that went viral on social media, many people speculated that the Wuling Air ev fire was caused by modifications.
Because the fire was seen starting from the front hood. Therefore, it is believed the fire was not caused by damage or malfunction of the battery, which is located in the undercarriage area.
Although Wuling has not yet revealed the cause of the fire, they confirmed that the battery and electric motor on the Air ev were not the culprits.
“The high-voltage battery component located under the car's cabin and the electric motor at the rear of the car were found intact and in normal condition after the extinguishing process was completed,” said Maulana Hakim, After Sales Director of Wuling Motors in his statement, quoted Monday (07/07).
He confirmed that the two components were not related to the fire and were not the cause of the incident.
Currently, the investigation into the cause of the Wuling Air ev fire in Bandung is still ongoing. Maulana confirmed that Wuling has also communicated directly with the owner through the local dealer.
“A deeper investigation is still ongoing, and we are focusing on the front hood area to determine the cause of this incident. We ask for your patience as we await further developments,” Maulana affirmed.
According to information from the Bandung Fire Department, the incident began when the Wuling Air ev started emitting white smoke from the front hood area.
Other road users alerted the driver of the car. He then got out to check it directly.
However, not long after, flames appeared. The Air ev owner is known to have immediately contacted the Fire Department to help extinguish the fire.
The fire was successfully extinguished in a short time. However, the burned section of the Wuling Air ev was left with only its frame.
