KatadataOTO – Wuling continues to step on the gas, tempting Indonesian automotive enthusiasts. Recently, they have been preparing a new car.
Reporting from the official website of the Intellectual Property Database of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Indonesian Ministry of Law on Thursday (14/08), they registered the Wuling Almaz Darion.
Without hesitation, this Chinese manufacturer immediately registered two products at once. First, there is the Wuling Almaz Darion EV as an electric car.
Then they also registered the Wuling Almaz Darion PHEV for the domestic market.
On the website, the owner's name for both cars is clearly listed, namely SAIC GM Wuling Automobile CO., LTD, located in Guangxi, China.
Wuling registered all its new products on July 17, 2025. They were then published on July 21, 2025, with application numbers DID2025069469 and DID2025069468.
All of these new Wuling cars are registered under category 12, for motor vehicles and their components.
It seems likely that these Wuling electric and hybrid cars will be based on the Starlight 560. This is because the Almaz is already established as a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) model.
Additionally, the previous Wuling Cortez Darion EV and PHEV also used the Starlight 730 as a base.
On the other hand, the Wuling Starlight 560 was officially launched in China some time ago. The product fills the crossover segment.
According to the GM Authority website, the Wuling Starlight 560 is available in three engine options. Such as Internal Combustion Engine (ICE).
Then consumers can also choose the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). Then there is the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) variant.
So it is not impossible that the Wuling Almaz Darion EV and PHEV will also use the base of the Starlight 560, which is already marketed in China.
For your information, if the Starlight 560 does become the base for the Wuling Almaz Darion, its appearance will be very bold. There are sharp lines all over the body.
At the front, there are boxy LED lights similar to those of the Wuling Cortez Darion in the country.
Regarding the dimensions of the Wuling Almaz Darion, it has a length of 4.75 meters, a width of 1.85 meters, and a height of 1.75 meters. Meanwhile, the product's wheelbase is more than 2.8 meters.
In addition, the Wuling Almaz Darion EV is also built on the modular D-Platform from SGMW's Tianyu architecture. This combination promises a spacious and flexible cabin.
Finally, it will be available in two configurations: five-seater and seven-seater. So, the arrival of the Wuling Almaz Darion EV and PHEV is worth waiting for.
