Wuling Eksion could again use the platform of one of the Starlight series models sold in China.
KatadataOTO – After the Almaz Darion EV and PHEV were registered at the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI), Wuling has again registered a new brand, namely Eksion.
This is a new name that has never been used by Wuling for its product line in its home country.
If the Almaz Darion EV and PHEV are believed to be based on the Starlight 560, there is a chance that Eksion will be the new name for another Starlight line with the potential to be marketed in Indonesia.
It should be noted that Wuling first brought the Starlight 730 to consumers in the country in 2025, but it was marketed under the name Cortez Darion.
Besides the Starlight 730 and 560, the model in the Starlight series available in pure electric and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) options is the Starlight S.
The Wuling Starlight S has the potential to be marketed as the Eksion and add another Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) crossover option for consumers.
With a 5-seater configuration, the Wuling Eksion is believed to be based on the Starlight S to fill the segment below the Almaz, and it will have smaller dimensions.
In terms of size, the Eksion will have a length of 4,745 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, a height of 1,685 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Meanwhile, its weight is in the range of 1,680 kg to 1,790 kg.
Interestingly, the model is claimed to have 19 aerodynamic features on its exterior, giving the car a drag coefficient of 0.277 Cd. This contributes to an increased range of up to 20 km.
The electric variant of Wuling's prospective new model has a front-wheel-drive electric motor with a power of 150 kW or equivalent to 201 hp. Its peak torque is 310 Nm.
Thanks to a 60 kWh LFP Shenlian 2C battery, the car can travel up to 510 km on a single full charge based on the CLTC testing method.
Meanwhile, the PHEV version is equipped with a 1,500 cc engine producing 78 kW (105 hp) with a peak torque of 130 Nm.
That output is reinforced by an electric motor that produces an extra 150 kW (201 hp) of power and 310 Nm of torque.
Two battery options are available: 9.5 kWh and 20.5 kWh. Without gasoline assistance, the car has a pure electric range of 60 km to 130 km.
The Wuling Eksion could be a new challenger to the electric cars Chery E5 and BYD Atto 3. However, price needs to be a consideration, as both are sold competitively starting from the IDR 300 million range.
