KatadataOTO – The MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) market has once again welcomed a new product from China. After the BYD M9 was introduced, the Wuling Xingguang 730 is now available in three variants.

The sliding door MPV will be launched with gasoline or ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), and BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) options.

Previously, Wuling had an entry-level MPV with a rather simple appearance and a boxy shape. This time, the Xingguang 730 is wrapped in an elegant, more modern, and dynamic exterior.

The front of the Wuling Xiangguang 730 is adorned with a minimalist black grille complemented by a silver emblem in the center.

The ICE and PHEV variants are practically identical, with almost no visible differences. However, for the BEV type, the hollow grille is removed, resulting in a minimalist fascia typical of an electric car.

Meanwhile, the rear design of the three Wuling Xingguang 730 variants shows no significant differences.

Without many additional body kits or accessories, the Wuling Xingguang 730 has a luxurious appearance like a premium family car.

Compared to the BYD M9, the Wuling Xingguang 730 is smaller with L x W x H dimensions of 4,910 mm x 1,850 mm x 1,770 mm.

For comparison, this is not much different from the new Honda Stepwgn hybrid MPV candidate that was once exhibited at GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2024 (4,830 mm x 1,750 mm x 1,845 mm).

There is no complete detailed information regarding the specifications of the Wuling Xingguang 730 yet. However, it is known that the ICE variant uses a 1,500 cc engine.

The PHEV type also uses a similar engine but with the addition of an LFP (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) battery.

Meanwhile, the Xingguang 730 EV (Electric Vehicle) carries a 100 kWh battery. But Wuling has not yet revealed the MPV's driving range.

In Indonesia, consumer response to premium eco-friendly MPVs like the Denza D9 has been quite good. Its retail sales almost reach 1,000 units each month.

BYD is then rumored to be planning to bring in a cheaper version of the Denza D9, namely the BYD M9. Its design has already been registered in Indonesia.

Therefore, it is possible that the Wuling Xingguang 730 will be brought to the country, adding another eco-friendly vehicle option domestically.
