Mass-produced Xiaomi SU7 Ultra becomes the fastest EV at Nurburgring, beating Hyundai and even Porsche.
KatadataOTO – The latest Chinese-made electric cars not only offer abundant features but also capable performance. Recently, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra was crowned the fastest mass-produced luxury electric car at the Nurburgring Circuit, Germany.
It should be noted that several production electric cars and hypercars have previously tested their performance and speed at the circuit.
Well-known models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N recorded a time of 7 minutes and 45 seconds. Then there's the Porsche Taycan Turbo S at 7 minutes and 42 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra successfully set a new record of 7 minutes and four seconds, making it the fastest premium production EV (Electric Vehicle).
That time even surpasses the Rimac Nevera's record of 7 minutes and 25 seconds. However, it has not yet beaten the achievement of the prototype SU7 Ultra, which conquered the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 46 seconds.
“The mass-produced version of the SU7 Ultra lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife, breaking the EV record there,” Xiaomi wrote on its Weibo social media account, as quoted by Electrek on Sunday (16/05).
The new record is a testament to Xiaomi's commitment to developing high-performance electric cars.
However, Xiaomi emphasized that it will not stop there. Development will continue, following technological advancements and facing stiff competition from various other manufacturers.
“I believe this record (of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra at the Nurburgring) will be broken again in the future,” said Lei Jun, Founder and CEO of Xiaomi.
For your information, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is the performance version of the SU7 that was launched earlier.
This variant is equipped with several components to add a sporty feel and power, such as a large 1,560 mm wide rear spoiler and an active rear diffuser that is claimed to increase the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra's downforce to 285 kg.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra carries a battery from CATL, has a considerably large capacity of 93.7 kWh, and is complete with three electric motors.
Overall, the power output can reach 1,138 kW, equivalent to 1,526 hp, while the peak torque is a monstrous 1,770 Nm.
The 0-100 km/h acceleration is very fast, claimed to be achievable in just 1.98 seconds. Meanwhile, the model's top speed is 350 km/h.
