KatadataOTO – The technology company known for its gadget products, Xiaomi has become one of the most popular electric car manufacturers in China today.

Several new models were introduced and managed to garner thousands of orders shortly after being launched.

For example, their newest SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), the Xiaomi YU7, is claimed to have received 315,900 orders just 72 hours after its launch in China. That figure does not include online orders.

Seeing the very high interest, it is undeniable that global consumers are also awaiting the arrival of Xiaomi's electric cars.

Xiaomi has revealed they are interested in selling their electric cars to the global market, but only after 2027.

One of the reasons is the overwhelming number of orders, so Xiaomi must first sort out production for the needs of Chinese consumers.

Some buyers are reportedly facing a very long waiting period of 38 to 60 weeks.

“We are committed to increasing (production) capacity,” said Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, as quoted by The Independent Singapore, Friday (04/07).

Unfortunately, he was reluctant to elaborate on the export prospects for Xiaomi's electric cars in the future, or which countries are targeted.

If it comes to Indonesia, Xiaomi's electric car could be an attractive option for consumers who like high-performance, premium, environmentally friendly vehicles.

For your information, the latest Xiaomi YU7 model is sold at a competitive price starting from 35,000 USD. In rupiah, this figure is equivalent to Rp 566.9 million.

In Indonesia, high-performance electric cars are sold on average for an OTR (On The Road) Jakarta price of over Rp 1 billion.

For example, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the performance version of the Ioniq 5 SUV, which is one of the mainstays of PT HMID (Hyundai Motors Indonesia).

Then from China, there is the MG Cyberster. Later, there will be a newcomer from BYD's premium sub-brand, namely the Denza Z9 GT.

Although the model's arrival has not been confirmed, salespeople have started offering units with a predicted price of Rp 1.3 billion.

Consumers can place an order for the Denza Z9 GT by preparing a booking fee of at least Rp 50 million.
